Ok, I hope this makes sense! This is how I rehair my dolls, it's sometimes called rerooting. It's not that hard really, but it can take a while since it takes a lot of plugs to cover a head.

As to where to get the doll hair from, there's a few different options. The best places to get high quality hair like you'd get on a factory made doll are online, Dollyhair, RestoreDoll and My Little Customs are all popular places I've heard good things about. If you have a look around second hand places like ebay and collectors forums you can sometimes get pretty good deals on hair other people don't need. Some craft stores sometimes sell it in store, but in my experience the range usually isn't great since it's not a very popular product.
Another option is to take the hair off another doll, thrift stores are a good place to find dolls for cheap you can reuse the hair from.
Wigs and hair extensions are a good source of hair if you can't find doll hair, if you're just learning how to rehair I suggest buying a cheap party wig to practice with. Just keep in mind that cheap wigs aren't exactly the quality most people are looking for for a doll, it can be hard to style and gets damaged easily.
(The hair I'm using here is actually from a wig, since I'm planning to rehair her later.)

If you don't think you're up to rehairing your doll there are other options. If you look for people who do customs they often provide rehairing services for a small fee + cost of hair. Or if you don't want permanent hair there are a lot of places that sell wigs to fit different sizes of heads.

Woah, this is fantastic! I'll stick to wigs for now but thank you for the tutorial! Just a question about the acetone tho, what wont harm the rubber/plastic?

Because I think alcohol-free is the one recommended for resin dolls. I just dont want to confuse which is good for which ^^; Thanks!

May I ask about how much hair would you suggest to reroot a whole Monster High head? Does one 'hank' work, or will I need to buy more than that? I don't want to get half-way through rehairing and have to wait two more weeks for more hair haha. BTW: I am SO HAPPY you did this tutorial, it seriously saved my life! Thank you!
